Neil Young show cancelled

I heard from someone that the Neil Young show is cancelled. I know tickets were $80 and up. The Forum's workers (International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees) are on strike over their contracts. Young and his wife are lifetime honorees of the organization. He has chosen to not cross the picket lines, and regrets having to choose, but will ultimately support the cause. Good to see someone with a backbone in this country still.

"I am extremely disappointed to have to choose between satisfying my fans or backing my brothers and sisters of the IATSE, I will miss playing in Los Angeles and apologize to my fans for the inconvenience this has caused."

I'm sure Springsteen would've folded and done it anyway. Both of them are known for supporting "the cause." But I'm sure good ol bruce would've sold out by now. I would be sooooo down to see Neil Young live. My mom gave me a bunch of Neil Young records when I was younger. I am sad to say I'm not super knowledgable about his career or his catalog though. :( I do know I love him and his music reminds me of a time when things were better.

Good videos/good songs

saw these videos on Hipsterrunoff.com

Sinichi Osawa - Star Guitar feat Au Revior Simone (really good video, you'll be able to see why I would like it, lots of images over lights and fun)

Friendly Fires - Paris

Labyrinth: Bowie - As The World Falls Down ((DREAMWAVE)) Genre?

How amazing is The Labyrinth? Especially now that everyones into the new genre "Dreamwave" meaning 80s synths and smooth disco. A term coined by the band NightWaves, made popular by Futurecop! and others.
P.S. Nightwaves is playing on Wed. night (Oct. 29th) in Hollywood at Element which I think is a fucking 18+ club buttfuck it I'm going. who's down?

Nightwaves - She's Electric
Shes Electric - NightWaves

Futurecop! - 1984
Class Of 1984 - Futurecop!

Amazingly good video made by a fan but Futurecop! approved video for "transformers" their hit song of a month ago. I love this video because a)its cheesy b)its supposed to be cheesy and thats why we like futurecop! to begin with C) I hope its me in the future

More Dreamwave Below!!!!

As The World Falls Down (Original "Vintage Dreamwave b4 dreamwave was dreamwave") - Bowie via Labyrinth
Just watching this clip and hearing the song instantly remind me of "Dreamwave." The subtle yet earnestness to find true love, if only to realize you're living in a fairy tale and floating through a maze of lies with little help from the goblins and gools who inhabit the world.

Many people believe in the "Labyrinth" is a sacred thing. For the way in is the way out.
Some jams from a website dedicated to the myths of a "Labyrinth".

"We are all on the path... exactly where we need to be. The labyrinth is a model of that path."

"A labyrinth is an archetype with which we can have a direct experience. We can walk it. It is a metaphor for life's journey. It is a symbol that creates a sacred space and place and takes us out of our ego to "That Which Is Within."

"At its most basic level the labyrinth is a metaphor for the journey to the center of your deepest self and back out into the world with a broadened understanding of who you are."

So basically. A Labyrinth is the key to our souls. There is, from at least what I can tell, no way to ever start or end your path in the labyrinth, unless we can say life is the beginning and death is the end.

Fuck sheckler

Sorry for jumping on the "Fuck Sheckler" train. I know that shits almost full, but the fools from that gay ass Maloof Money Cup that happened a little while ago made videos profiling the "athletes" "competing" in their little contest. Fuck Maloof, that guy owns the Sacramento Kings or some shit right???
Sheckler says he's : "Working on his cardio" in preperation for the contest.

I mean, Sheckler is pretty damn good at skateboarding, but he's treating it like a sport, which isn't what this shits about, its about the bitches and tha fame and tha money right y'all?

Bonus Sheckler shirtless vid

The Submarines / New T.I. Album

So I heard The Submarines in Nick and Norah's infinite playlist. Continuing my posting of dreamy low fi lost in the drive from coast to coast type music. Listen to The Submarines.
Think about thinking.

Songs called Xavia

peace and hate (songs better than the video, but at least theres other people on a submarine looking for love. just like me)

Also, I just heard some songs off the new T.I. album he wrote while on house arrest waiting for arraignment from his gun charges. remember when that happened?? weird, I always thought T.I. was one of the least hard rappers around, even though I like his shit. I'm probably the last person in the world to hear this album but its got 3 good songs on it. which is pretty good these days.
Heres a song you've all heard, but I'm just getting psyched on it. "whatever you like" - a good ol rags to riches story

the usual reflect and be happy you're rich and lucky to be alive, we've survived alot in the hood together eh shorty??

need bux to fix camera

the guy on the phone at frys told me they won't fix the broken button on my camera because it's my fault its broken. I don't really know how it broke, I was too fucked up apparently to remember.. it just got messed up in my pocket. really psyched i bought that 40 dollar 2 year warranty now :) i wish i had a camera the last few nights. wouldve been a bunch of piled out photos

Make Model

I found "Make Model" on youtube. Who knew I was so into dreamy indie electronic low fi these days? I guess I've always been. The Was - Make Model
"The Was" video is un-embeddable fucking record company fucks
see the nice video for "The Was" here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mgq8-mFvUUA

Make Model is this and that, figure the bio out later. just listen for now fucks

"The Was" (Found Remix)

This band just broke up, so they're album will never actually see the light of day, EMI owns it and won't let it go, according to singer/frontman Lewis Gale

If anyone wants to read an interview with Lewis Gale, that was just released, which I highly doubt anyone does, because... blah blah you know why.... i hate/don't understand you, and you hate/don't understand me. (rambling buzzed)

I (Heart) Keanu Reeves

Somehow, I've rented 3 Keanu Reeves movies in a row. Constantine, My Own Private Idaho, and The Matrix. I opened a a membership at the world famous Highland Park library, and suddenly my love for Keanu has come out in full force. I spoke to my mom, and she reminded me that I was conceived on a beach while watching Point Break. keanu's voice has always soothed my soul, and his pretty little eyes and perfect ears, are like burning pieces of coal that could power a train from here to the South Pole. Keanu has played many wonderful souls on the silver screen. We'll come back to that though. Lets visit some highs of his career:

this is keanu as a kid, a very clever interviewer indeed.

as Bill or Ted in their excellent adventures
(no clips worth showing are available at press time)

as an indie rich bi-curious son of an important guy thats living life. "my own private idaho" which is amazing by the way, and my boy river phoenix is in it. Maybe I'll write about him soon, being that he died on my bday

as Special Agent Johnny Utah in the smash hit of every summer Point Break

as Lt. Jack something in "Speed" circa 1990 something

As the indie orthodontist in Thumbsucker: wait about 36 sex for Keanu to cum on screen. see this if you haven't or don't i guess but you'll be missing out my sweethearts

also he was good in A Scanner Darkly, which was entirely rotoscoped, a pretty amazing effect, but I'm too lazy to write or think about explaining it blah blah, anyway here's me with Keanu's star, on the famous Wilshire Blvd.

New Writer/friend/foe/blogger/

There is a new addition to the team of already stellar writers on this pile of shit blog. Mr. BLK (a.k.a mr. blackout, aka jake) is contributing some stuff from time to time, so get out your reading glasses ladies and lets go for a ride

Giants do exist. We've known about em for some time now.

So I went skatin in downtown two sunday's ago and it seemed like any other day. Not landin' much, head full of alcohol. Pretty normal. Met a few friends at the court house for some flatground backflips. Left the spot and headed over to my young lad Tony's house for a smoke 'n' a view of the lovely city. Josh came by and we hit the streets for a mellow cruise. As usual Tony was shreddering every possible thing in his path when dude said, "yo what is that"? Right in front of my very eyes walked a giant man crossing the shitty LA street. Fucking unbelievable. He came up to me and dude and asked if we new where some particular building was. Dude told him where it was, and that was that. As this large fello walked away I happened to notice his shirt read: I'm 7' 8", take a photo with me, 1 dollar. I just stood there stoned, in utter shock as this giant walked so quickly in and out of my life. But low and behold I found him thanks to the wwwdot. I give you, "Igor".
I have to admit that I was kinda scared when Igor came up to us. But he's probably just another one of those gentle giants everybody talks about at least twice a day. Here he is making a small bowl of soup. : )
>
And here is a shot of him and his custom shoe designer. Pro model sandal? The guy has it fuckin' made!
"Igor Vovkovinskiy, 24, is a 7-foot-8-inch giant whose home in Rochester, Minn., was custom-built for his enormous frame. The house has cathedral ceilings and a 9-foot-long bed. Once he steps outside his front door, though, Vovkovinskiy towers above the rest of the world."

If I ever happen to run into this guy again I'll be sure to hit you up via AIM on my sidekick10,000 for "drinks with a giant", at the Cha Cha lounge. Drinks on you. Piss. -Mr.Blk

This dude Ghostrider from Sweden, wears all black and drives all black things, out runs cops in a subaru wrx STI. Pretty damn rad to just gun it through the streets in a car way faster than the cops. He usually does it on a motorcycle or in a supra. He usually waits for them to catch up and then just floors it.

A hairy situation indeed

By the way, my roommate is listening to Wooly Bully to get psyched to go out to.
Wooly Bully - Sam the Sham & the Pharaohs
I don't know if you all know about my weird living situation, but he looks like this:

thats kinda mean, his back is just hairy like this:

B4 I die

So I check Hipster Runoff, and the dude Carles whose website it is, put all these little catch slogans on a daft punk helmeted child. I like his writing, it reminds me of mine.. Just joking I'm not that big of a douche, but I like the innocence/truthfullness/scared of growing up vibe I get from them, which is exactly why he made them, because it's cliche and retarted to ask these questions and make bold statements about ourselves and our hope for the future in this day and age, even though we really want to know the answers and could potentially believe in our own bullshit. I picked some that represent me:
A Brief List: 10 things to do before I die: (this weeks list)
1. Read an Encyclopedia: To learn about things I know nothing about
2. Drive a Ferrari
3. See the world
4. Kiss someone at that perfect moment: sunset, sunrise, under the night sky in the desert
5. Have a perfect date
6. Accept myself for who I am
7. Not talk shit
8. Eat/Live Healthy
9. Control my drinking
10. Tell my parents how much I love them
11. Tell my friends how much I love them

I'm gonna make one of these every week from now on

I'm From Nowhere!

So we were outside that Temporary Spaces thing on Thursday nights where they only play hip hop from 90 - 97, and these two sketchy wannabee bangers come up on me and are like "Where you from Dawg, get the fuck outta my neighborhood" all ready to fight and shit. So I said Highland Park, and then luckily Jonel's homegirl Patty was like, "He's from nowhere," and they let us go. It wasn't even a bad neighborhood. they were just practicing for the small time shit they're gonna try to run in a real neighborhood. I wish nothing but the worst for them.

Mercury in Retrograde???

According to my mom, Mercury is in retrograde. "Mechanical things fall apart, relationships are shitty, communication is a challenge, by wednesday things should be back to normal." - MOM

It's actually true, after hours and months of research I've figured out the following::: Here is my yearly published report so I can keep my PHD

From the Brain of Daniel Haney:: Begin Transmission:::<<<<>>>>>

A planet is described as retrograde when it appears to be moving backwards through the zodiac. Retrograde periods, although often problematic for us earthlings, are not particularly uncommon.

In general, Mercury rules thinking and perception, processing and disseminating information and all means of communication, commerce, education and transportation. By extension, Mercury rules people who work in these areas, especially people who work with their minds or their wits: writers and orators, commentators and critics, gossips and spin doctors, teachers, travellers, tricksters and thieves.

Mercury retrograde gives rise to personal misunderstandings; flawed, disrupted, or delayed communications, negotiations and trade; glitches and breakdowns with phones, computers, cars, buses, and trains. And all of these problems usually arise because some crucial piece of information, or component, has gone astray or awry.

It is therefore not wise to make important decisions while Mercury is retrograde, since it is very likely that these decisions will be clouded by misinformation, poor communication and careless thinking. Mercury is all about mental clarity and the power of the mind, so when Mercury is retrograde these intellectual characteristics tend to be less acute than usual, as the critical faculties are dimmed. Make sure you pay attention to the small print!
